Mall of Marrakesh

Whether it’s the over the top Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota, a strip mall in LA, Main Street in any rural town, a shop-lined street in SoHo, NYC, or a covered bazaar like this one in Morocco, markets and shopping centers are the lifeblood of every community. People certainly go to these places to buy food, clothing, supplies, toiletries, and other goods. But they also go there to socialize, see what’s new in terms of merchandise, catch up on the gossip, see what others are doing and wearing, or just to get out of the house to be in the company of others. There’s something about a market that serves to remind us that we are part of something bigger and more important than just ourselves.
