Time out

In today’s hyper-connected, over-stimulated, time-pressed, goal-oriented, over-scheduled world, people find it increasingly difficult to shut it all out and just be. We always talk about trying to live more “in the moment,” but when it comes to actually doing so, that’s another matter. With so many distractions around us, we must actively train ourselves to focus on the things that bring true joy and meaning to life. One technique is to simply pay more attention to the world around you, and use all of your senses. No matter what you are doing, try to find something beautiful around you. Something as simple as watching the sun set behind a building or enjoying the scent of freshly washed clothes can bring a feeling of peace and happiness by forcing you to slow down and savor what is, rather than what was or what might be.
