Mobile phones have experienced explosive growth, especially in developing countries, where they account for two-thirds of all cell phones being used. Before the proliferation of mobile phones, and due to the scarcity of landlines, public pay phones were ubiquitous. For many, this was the only way they could make a call. Today they are becoming a rarity, and it is just a matter of time before you’ll have to look hard to find one, even when they are as quirky as these “hairdryer” pay phones in Suriname!
