Just as adults like to socialize in bars, clubs, and cafes, younger kids need a place to hang out, too. Skateboard shops offer a perfect venue for kids to congregate. Here they find other kids with similar interests, and often a shop owner who shares the same passion. Rather than being chased away and discouraged from hanging out, as they often are from other stores, the kids feel welcomed and part of a real community. It’s a win-win situation – the kids are in a safe environment where they feel like they belong, and the shop owner benefits from the business they bring him.
