Double-Dutch

Growing up underprivileged brings with it responsibilities that many never have to think about. Taking care of younger siblings, preparing meals, and doing the family shopping is expected of kids from single parent homes, but that doesn’t mean they’re not still kids. They have the same needs that other kids have – to let loose, have fun, and just be kids. Double-Dutch and regular jump rope used to be seen everywhere, but now seems to be unique to the inner city. Jumping rope serves as a release from some of the grownup responsibilities that many of these young girls, face at home and in their neighborhoods.
