Wow! A paper!

This newspaper announcing Barrack Obama’s election victory seems to have more value as a collector’s item than as a new source for people today. We have so many different ways of getting our news that are moving the traditional printed newspaper down the list of importance in our lives. We can get the same information from a variety of sources quickly and up to the minute. This change is not easy for people that love the nostalgia of the printed paper but even they are joining in the shift. People bought this paper the day after the election as a item to collect and to possibly place later on ebay for a profit. Most of us already got our news from CNN, Google or the New York Times on cable television or on the internet election night. Some even prefer to read the news on their iphones or blackberry on the way to work. The printed paper is not gone but its influence is changing. It would be smart for the New York Times, on inauguration day, to make available a reprint of this issue for sale. With dwindling profits, this may be another revenue stream for “All the news that’s fit to print.” Change is in the air in more ways than one.
